Public law childcare

Our public law childcare team is lead by Mark Evans, a solicitor since 1983, and Carol Binnion, a solicitor since 1984. They are supported by consultant, Robin Grove, a solicitor since 1967 and Gail Hope, a solicitor.

Mark, Carol and Robin are all recognised as experts in this are of work and as such are members of the Children’s Panel of Solicitors having been accredited as such by the Law Society. The client base includes parents, other relatives, and children who are themselves the subject of proceedings. We are regularly instructed to advise Barnados, NSPCC, The Children’s Society, and local authorities.

Advice and representation is available in all areas of child care law including, care proceedings, adoption, including adoption with a foreign element; and undertaking work in the Family Proceedings County and High Courts.

A prompt response in emergency situations, and consistent and thorough representation is guaranteed for clients. Experts are instructed as and when appropriate, including psychiatrists, psychologists, paediatricians and interpreters to ensure clients are adequately represented.

The department has a Public Funding Franchise granted by the Legal Services Commission and therefore free advice is available for those qualifying for such. Appointments can be made at very short notice.
